Ms. Zipporah Wambua, upon existing Dr. Steve Rasmussen’s Biblical Theology of Missions class said, “As you watch who God is from Genesis to Revelation, you see Him active in history, working his story. This class exposed me to the mission of God as bringing justice, empowerment, healing, food to the poor, medication and love to the dying world. Thus making me want to be more like Him every day of my life.”

Fridah Maluki, assistant registrar, recommends Brokenness (The heart that God revives) by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. “The book gives us a clear explanation of what brokenness is and what it is not. The most amazing thing is that brokenness is a lifestyle of agreeing with God about the true condition of your heart and life, as He sees it. It is a lifestyle of unconditional, absolute surrender of our will to the will of God, a heart attitude that says, ‘Yes,Lord!’ to whatever God says. Brokenness means the shattering of self-will, so that the life and spirit of the Lord Jesus may be released through us. Brokenness is our response of humility and obedience to the conviction of the word and spirit of God.”

This past term has been fun because we learnt new games, like badminton, volleyball, checkers, scrabble, etc. Best of all, many of us got saved!!!
The end of the school year is a sad time, because some of my friend will be leaving to go back to their countries. However, I look forward to making new friends from Africa and other parts of the world in the coming school year.

Stephen Silamo, upon existing Dr. Peter Mathenge’s hermeneutics class said, “I learned that I can be keener in interpreting the Bible, from other perspectives rather than only in my own personal convictions, and I should consider the context of the verse–the whole chapter, the book, historical factors, social factors and the language of the text, before interpreting it.”

Don Penney, IT Director and Executive Assistant to the Vice Chancellor, recommends Leading Across Cultures by James E. Pluedemann. “The book helps us understand the way different cultures both support and do leadership. The author has used stories to demonstrate his point, and this has a universal appeal. The book is a must read for those who intend to seriously engage in leadership in globalized mission or church of the twenty-first century.”

John Teke, a 2nd year MDiv in theological studies reflects on Dr. Bill Black’s Christian apologetics course, “We look at people with a particular lens and our own world view hinders us from seeing others. We judge people according to our own worldview and we end up becoming biased. And yet Jesus did not do this. We don’t defend faith by setting arguments but by engaging people in order to understand their world view.”
